Job Summary
Medical Surgical Oncology Nurse This position is located on the oncology floor of a healthcare facility. The Clinical Nurse will provide specialized patient care in a hospital setting, focusing on patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other cancer treatments. The role emphasizes collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and adherence to clinical standards to ensure quality patient outcomes.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Nursing diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Accredited School of Nursing; licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina; Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA or ARC); at least 2 years of nursing experience, including a minimum of 2 years of outpatient chemotherapy/immunotherapy infusion experience; must have previous Epic electronic medical record experience; experience with chemotherapy, biotherapy infusions, blood product administration, IV iron, fluids, electrolytes, port lab draws, injections, patient education, and emotional support.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited school of Nursing; additional certifications related to oncology nursing are advantageous.
- Additional Information: The role involves administering chemotherapy and biotherapy infusions, blood products, IV therapy, and patient/family education. The nurse will participate in patient assessment, discharge planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and clinical research discussions. Responsibilities include prioritizing care tasks, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards, and contributing to performance improvement initiatives.
