Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology unit requiring 2+ years of oncology experience and OCN certification.

Details

  • Inpatient oncology unit within a hospital setting
  • Adult to geriatric patient population with oncology and hematology diagnoses
  • Care spans diagnosis through end-of-life, including DNR/comfort care and oncologic emergencies
  • Patient ratio of 1:6 on a 19-bed unit with an average daily census of 15
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within the facility and possibly to a nearby satellite location approximately 3 miles from the main campus
  • Uses Epic EMR (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
  • Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
  • BLS certification required
  • OCN certification required
  • Chemotherapy certification through ONS/ONCC required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with oncology experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, and central/implanted line care
  • Experienced in chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and post-chemo body fluid handling
  • Knowledgeable in neutropenic precautions
  • Experience with morphine and dilaudid drips, CADD pumps, and PCA pumps
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive oncology and hematology nursing care across the full continuum from diagnosis to end-of-life
  • Administer and monitor chemotherapy, manage ports and central lines, and follow neutropenic precautions
  • Manage pain control via morphine and dilaudid drips using CADD and PCA pumps
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized prior to submission
  • Holiday coverage required based on the number of major holidays falling within the assignment period
  • Major holidays include New Year's Eve/Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, and Christmas Eve/Day
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former Piedmont perm, per diem, or FCSS employees must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
  • Returning travelers who were previously unable to return to a facility must complete one successful assignment outside of Piedmont before rebooking
