Job Summary
Medical Surgical Neurology Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position located in a Level II Trauma Center. The role involves providing specialized patient care to adults and geriatrics, focusing on neurological conditions such as CVA, neuro surgery pre/post, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury. The nurse will support a patient census of approximately 32, working the dayshift schedule.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Days, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois RN license; BLS and NIHSS certifications; minimum 2 years of recent Med Surg Neuro experience; experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, gastrointestinal care including colostomy and feeding tube management, IV therapy including central line and PICC line management, medication administration including Heparin and Insulin, neurological and psychiatric case skills related to CVA, neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, TBI, and surgical drains; professional knowledge of isolation precautions, wound care, wound vac, and continuous bladder irrigation; Cerner electronic charting experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Teaching hospital experience and trauma level II experience.
- Additional Information: The assignment includes floating within scope as needed, working every other weekend, and discussing schedule requests with the manager. The facility provides interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams. The first day of orientation is virtual, with required modules completed prior to start. RTO restrictions are ideally no more than five days, with the candidate expected to work two of the three major holidays.
