Medical Surgical Float Position in Night Shift for a healthcare provider in an acute care setting. This role involves providing comprehensive general medical and surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population, with a focus on assessments, care planning, and interdisciplinary communication.
Job Details
- Position Description: Medical Surgical Float Nurse responsible for managing patients with varying diagnoses including chronic illnesses like COPD, Diabetes, CHF, renal disease, GI issues, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders. Procedures include colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries such as cholecystectomy, incision and drainage, biopsies, and amputations.
- Required Qualifications: IN license (or compact as of 7/1/20), BLS through American Heart Association, at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience, and at least 1 year of experience at a facility with 450+ beds.
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Epic electronic record, pyxis machines, and various IV and wound care equipment.
- Additional Information: Candidates will participate in Jump Start orientation, including 1 day of hospital onboarding and approximately 5 days of nursing orientation, including Epic classes. Float to other medical units may be required, specifically within medical specialties.
