Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a cancer hospital oncology unit, requiring 2 years of current acute care experience and an OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical Oncology unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with all subtypes of solid tumor cancers including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers
• Patients range from new diagnosis through active treatment to end-of-life care transitions
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, potentially up to 1:5
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• No set or blocked scheduling
• Floating required to other MedSurg Oncology units
• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• Uses Epic for computerized charting

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• 2 years of current acute care experience required in the specialty applying for, with consistent work in the last 12 months
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, accessing and managing ports, starting and maintaining IVs, and central line blood draws
• Experience with blood product administration preferred
• Experience administering chemotherapy preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
• Tracheostomy care/management skills preferred
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references not accepted
