Description
Perform laboratory testing in areas including hematology, immunohematology, immunology, bacteriology, microscopy, chemistry, and therapeutic drug monitoring.
Perform venipunctures, arterial punctures, and capillary punctures as appropriate.
Process and prepare patient specimens according to established protocols.
Calibrate, standardize, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
Perform quality control and preventive maintenance procedures.
Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents and supplies.
Validate and accurately report laboratory test results in a timely manner.
Assist with laboratory policy, procedure development, and quality improvement activities.
Assist with orientation and training of students and new employees.
Follow laboratory safety, infection-control, biohazard, and blood-borne pathogen protocols.
Maintain accurate documentation and comply with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
