Description: The Medical Technologist supports high-quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory. This role involves preparing specimens for testing and performing routine and specialized laboratory tests. Quality control and troubleshooting quality control errors are essential responsibilities. Maintenance procedures and recognizing computer data problems must be efficiently managed. Troubleshooting laboratory instruments and performing preventative maintenance are required. Technical information must be communicated effectively to both medical and non-medical personnel. Assisting with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures will be part of this position. Participation in continuing education is expected to maintain professional standards. The technologist will recognize normal and abnormal laboratory values. Models the Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities. Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season, all employees may be assigned to emergency response teams.
