Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant Profession: Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Practitioner Specialty: Clinic Duration: Full-time Shift: Day shift Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a medical setting License: Must maintain certification as a Medical Assistant Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: - Completion of at least 2 years in a formal Medical Assistant curriculum - Certification as a Medical Assistant - BLS Certification Description: The Certified Medical Assistant performs clinical support procedures under the direct supervision of the Office Nurse or Physician. This job description does not imply that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. He or she will be required to follow any other instructions and perform any other duties requested by their supervisor. The Medical Assistant should reflect professionalism through personal appearance and attitudes. Cleanliness, neatness, ability to handle stressful situations in a calm manner, a caring nature, and genuine enjoyment of patients are required personal qualities of this position. Emotional stability is also required due to the nature of the work. Confidentiality in all matters relating to the practice, its employees, and patients is essential. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform blood draws, injections, child immunizations, lab tests, and any other procedures within the scope of Medical Assistant certification. Assist the physician in examinations, including taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration. Keep exam rooms cleaned and stocked with necessary supplies. Take and return patient phone calls as directed by the Physician. Give instructions to patients as instructed by the physician. Requisition supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock. Assist with the maintenance of medical records, including completion of referral forms, lab slips, and other pertinent documentation as requested. Assist patients in getting to and from exam rooms, preparing for exams, and during procedures as requested. Assist with any nursing procedure as directed by the Physician. Must work as a member of a team and demonstrate flexibility. Assist in other areas as requested by management or clinical leadership while operating within the guidelines of Medical Assistant certification.
