Description: The Medical Assistant II in Family Medicine is responsible for clinical duties such as taking vital signs, giving injections, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, and drawing blood. The role also includes sterilizing and cleaning equipment and maintaining examination rooms. The Medical Assistant greets and checks in patients and notifies the appropriate provider. They prepare patients, rooms, and equipment for procedures and exams. The Medical Assistant takes and records vital signs and informs the provider of patient concerns. Emergency patients are treated as a priority, and assistance is provided during patient examinations and treatments. The Medical Assistant handles patient situations over the phone and schedules appointments and procedures with medical professionals. They register new patients and establish medical records. The role involves preparing patient billings and assisting patients with insurance and other forms. The Medical Assistant supplies authorized information upon request from third-party payors. They instruct patients in preparation for specific procedures and collect and process routine laboratory specimens. Clinical equipment is operated and maintained by the Medical Assistant. Aseptic techniques, including sterilization, disinfection, and disposal of contaminated material, are maintained. Instruments are cleaned, wrapped, and autoclaved as part of the job. The Medical Assistant cares for supplies and equipment. Additional duties may be assigned as required.
