    Description

    Job Title: Medical Assistant II Profession: Medical Assistant Specialty: Family Medicine Duration: Permanent Shift: Days with possible schedule until 7:00 PM on Mondays and/or Wednesdays Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Experience: Previous experience in an office or outpatient ambulatory care setting - Strongly Preferred License: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program - REQUIRED Certifications: American Association Medical Assistants (AAMA) certified - CMA designation OR American Medical Technologists (AMT) registered RMA designation OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant plus 12 month apprenticeship program CCMA designation - REQUIRED Must-Have: AHA (BLS) Basic Life Support - REQUIRED Description: The Medical Assistant II is responsible for clinical duties such as taking vital signs, giving injections, and performing simple diagnostic tests. Collects specimens, draws blood, sterilizes and cleans equipment, and maintains examination rooms. Greets and checks in patients, notifying the appropriate provider. Prepares patients, rooms, and equipment for procedures and exams. Takes and records vital signs. Informs provider of patient vital signs and concerns. Recognizes and treats emergency patients as a priority. Assists with patient examinations and treatments. Handles patient situations over the phone, scheduling appointments and procedures. Understands limitations in dealing with patients over the phone and involves nursing staff and providers. Registers new patients and establishes a medical record. Prepares patient billings. Assists patients with insurance forms and provides authorized information upon request by third-party payors. Instructs patients in preparation for specific procedures. Collects and processes routine laboratory specimens. Operates and maintains clinical equipment. Maintains and uses aseptic techniques, including sterilization, disinfection, and disposal of contaminated material. Cleans, wraps, and autoclaves instruments. Cares for supplies and equipment. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
