Description:
The Medical Assistant will manage customer flow throughout the clinic.
They will assist providers in the management and treatment of customers from a variety of backgrounds and age groups.
Individualized care is required, including care for infants, children, adolescents, adults, or geriatrics.
The focus of the Medical Assistant is on collaborative, supportive, and delegated tasks as described in the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
Delegable tasks and competencies are specific to the role of the Supervising Nurse and Supervising Provider.
These are described by the relevant medical regulatory boards.
The Medical Assistant receives direction and collaborates with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and Providers to meet defined goals.
Effective communication with the healthcare team regarding progress, concerns, questions, or problems is essential in this role.
The Medical Assistant will perform clinical and clerical tasks to assist with customer flow management.
Tasks include standard rooming processes, giving immunizations, injections, and other medications as directed by the provider.
They will perform laboratory specimen collection as needed.
Depending on the specialty and clinic location, additional duties may include:
Providing telephone support.
Facilitating communication between customers and providers.
Assisting with prescription refills.
Performing x-ray duties if the individual has passed the x-ray operator exam.
Performing phlebotomy duties.
Conducting clinic laboratory tests.
Providing front desk/check-in support.
Ordering and stocking supplies.
Assisting with prior authorizations.
