Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and at least 1 year of general medicine experience.

Details

  • Acute care Medical Acute Care unit with 20 beds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4/5 on days and 1:5/6 on nights
  • General medical patient population
  • Some patients on telemetry monitoring with central station monitor techs reading strips (bedside RNs do not read strips)
  • Philips telemetry monitors used on the unit
  • No ventilator management required
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • 12-hour night shift schedule
  • Every other weekend required
  • Charge nurse and house supervisor coverage 24/7, with charge nurse typically not taking a patient assignment unless short-staffed
  • PCT support 24/7 with ratios of 1:6/7 on days and 1:10 on nights
  • Floating may be required, with travel RNs typically floating first
  • Call/standby requirements vary based on hospital staffing needs

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required
  • BLS certification (AHA) required
  • Minimum 1 year of general medicine experience required
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills required
  • Negative drug screen required for all panels

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care within a general medical acute care unit
  • 3 days of unit/department-specific orientation provided
  • Holiday coverage required for 3 of 6 designated holidays per year
  • No specific scrub color required
  • Preference given to travelers with general medicine/surgical experience
  • Local candidates may be eligible for a local pay rate if residing within 50 miles of the facility
  • No radius restriction for eligibility to work the assignment
