Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med Surg/Telemetry position requiring 24 months of experience and an active IA or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg unit caring for a regional patient population, including overflow of post-op surgical hip/knee patients and occasional psych patients
• Patient ratios of 4-5:1 with a 24-bed unit
• Uses heparin drips with remote telemetry monitoring
• Days shift, 4x12 hour shifts, 48 hrs/week (36 hrs/week can be accommodated)
• Weekend rotation required, every other or every third weekend depending on staffing/census
• No on-call requirements
• Required to float across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran & Iowa Methodist
• Holiday rotation required

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of Med Surg / Med Surg Tele experience required
• Charge nurse experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience caring for psych patients preferred
• Precepting experience a plus
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Provide med surg nursing care including overflow post-op surgical hip/knee and psych patients
• Extension beyond the initial 13-week contract is preferred by the department
• No blocked shifts allowed
• Required to work 1-2 of the 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) unless the unit is closed
• Scrub color requirement: solid navy blue
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments at any UPH market facility within the past 12 months unless their prior role was travel-based
