Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit requiring 1-2 years of acute care experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med Surg/Tele unit specializing in Ortho/Uro/Neuro (7N) at a Level 2 trauma facility
• 29-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on NOCs
• Patient population includes ortho trauma, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, OBGYN oncology, and acute medical admissions
• RNs titrate drips (Heparin, and occasionally Nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, Insulin) following a prescribed nomogram
• Dedicated telemetry techs monitor strips 24/7, so RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Charge nurse takes a patient assignment on all shifts, with house supervisor coverage around the clock
• Nursing assistants support the unit with varying ratios by shift
• Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BIPAP, and High Flow Oxygen Therapy with RT support present (no ventilators)
• 12-hour day shifts available, including 0700-1930, 1100-2330, and 2300-0700 schedules
• Block scheduling used, no self-scheduling
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units
• Cerner EMR used, currently transitioning to EPIC
• No call or standby requirements

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• Two current professional references required: one from a supervisor and one from a peer or supervisor

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for ortho trauma, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, and oncology patients, including wound dressing changes and drip titration
• Participate in a 1-day computer training session followed by 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation
• Scrubs may be any color as long as they are clean and professional
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility may be considered local
• Former Marshfield permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
