Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring charge experience and a CT or compact RN license at a Level I Trauma Center.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit in a short-term acute care, Level I Trauma Center academic medical center with 1,567 staffed beds
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
• Patient ratios average 1:4 days, 1:5 nights, 1:4 weekends
• Required to work every other weekend
• Must be willing to take charge shifts as needed by the unit
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR used

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required prior to start date, pending license accepted
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years accepted if from a large hospital or Level I Trauma Center)
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, blood product administration, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and responding to rapid response/code situations
• Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with wound care, insulin protocols, and renal/dialysis management preferred
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit, including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Participate in charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by the unit
• May be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions only for religious or medical reasons
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
• Former staff must have a 2-year break in employment before returning as a traveler
