Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – Philadelphia Travel Nursing Contract
Join a collaborative neuroscience-focused care team as a Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This 13-week travel nursing contract offers night shifts in a 22-bed neurosurgical unit caring for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with neurologic, neurosurgical, trauma, and oral surgery diagnoses. Travel Registered Nurse Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,950–$2,060

- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, 6:45 p.m. – 7:15 a.m.; 36 hours per week
- Weekend Rotation: Rotating weekend coverage required
- Call: None
- Scheduling Notes: Block scheduling is not available; floating may be required if unit census decreases or staffing needs change
- Orientation: 36 hours
Med/Surg Telemetry RN Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Pennsylvania
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience, including medical-surgical telemetry experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Proficiency with Epic or a comparable electronic health record system preferred
- Clinical experience with IV therapy, PICC line management, phlebotomy, wound care, tracheostomy care, feeding tubes, insulin and heparin management, oxygen administration, and isolation precautions
- Ability to care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a fast-paced neurosurgical environment
- Flu vaccination is required; approved medical or religious exemptions may be considered
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with neurologic, neurosurgical, trauma, and oral surgery diagnoses
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition requiring prompt intervention
- Administer medications and treatments, including insulin, heparin, IV therapies, and oxygen therapy, according to clinical protocols
- Perform patient assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, and document care accurately in the electronic health record
- Manage IVs and PICC lines, provide wound and tracheostomy care, and support feeding tube management
- Collaborate with physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, phlebotomy, transportation, and rapid response teams
- Respond effectively to changes in patient status and utilize rapid response or code team resources when appropriate
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention, patient education, and continuity of care throughout each shift
