Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night shift contract requiring at least 2 years of experience and an active AZ or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Telemetry unit (Med/Surg - Surgical/Neuro, 4th Floor) with 48 beds across two units
• Patient population includes COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic, telemetry, TIA, CVA, and general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5 with nurse aides at 1:10-15
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (7:00pm-7:30am) with every other weekend required
• Uses Cerner EMR
• RNs are not required to titrate drips, though Diltiazem may run at a set rate
• Telemetry is monitored remotely by monitor techs; RNs must interpret and sign strips at least once per shift
• Respiratory equipment on unit includes Bipap, Cpap, high flow, and breathing treatments
• Charge nurse and house supervisor roles are separate, with charge not taking a patient assignment
• Floating may be required to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified
• No call or standby requirements

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience reading basic telemetry strips required
• Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA preferred
• Cerner EMR experience recommended due to limited orientation time
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Interpret and sign telemetry strips at least once per shift
• One shift of unit/department-specific orientation provided
• Self-scheduling is used but finalized by the manager
• Schedules are made out in 4-week blocks
• Weekend requirement of 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required for Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving, working a combination of days and evenings across the holiday period
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the position
