Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Med/Surg Tele with 18 months of Med/Tele experience for a 12-hour night shift contract at a Level 3 Trauma teaching facility.

Details

• 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit
• Average daily census of 32 patients
• Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
• RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8
• LPN ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8; CNA ratio of 1:10
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Possible low census call-back, up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Unit supported by CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring techs available
• Uses Epic EMR
• Unit equipped with virtual nursing cameras (VNO) for second RN witness, monitoring, and admission/discharge support

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Epic EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Deliver direct Med/Surg Tele nursing care including cardiac monitoring, wound care, and line/drain management
• Collaborate with a supportive care team including CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT, hospitalists, and intensivists
• Participate in 2-day departmental orientation in addition to standard new employee orientation
• Expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 RTO days approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
• Navy scrub color required
