Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift acute care assignment requiring a Colorado or compact RN license and 2+ years of experience.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit on the 7th floor with 37 beds
• Patient population includes medical, surgical, and sepsis diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4/5 on days and 1:5/6 on nights
• 12-hour night shifts
• Nurse aide staffing ratio of 1:12
• Centrally monitored Phillips telemetry with RNs required to read their own strips
• Moderate oxygen support needs on the unit
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating required, with priority given to travelers and potential to float within Zone 3 if needed
• Call or standby requirements determined by the nurse manager
• EPIC EMR used

Requirements

• Active CO state or compact (NLC) RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• Competency in reading telemetry strips required
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide acute medical-surgical nursing care including management of common titratable drips such as analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives administered by other staff
• No charge nurse assignment responsibilities on this unit
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Unit-specific orientation date and location assigned during orientation week
• Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week even if initial modules are completed remotely
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
• Float radius policy applies, requiring travelers to secure housing allowing them to float within their assigned zone
• Candidates with recent direct employment history at this health system within the past year will not be considered
• First-time travelers may be considered
