Travel RN Job Details

  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour nights
  • Shift Hours: 6:45 p.m. – 7:15 a.m.
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours

  • Typical Assignment: 5–6 patients
  • Orientation: 36 hours; availability is required each day during the first week for hospital orientation
  • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend, plus two Mondays and two Fridays during a six-week period
  • Additional Scheduling: Call and floating may be required based on unit and patient-care needs; block scheduling is not available

Telemetry Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in telemetry, cardiac, progressive care, or a comparable acute-care setting
  • Strong cardiac telemetry experience; progressive care experience is preferred but not required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Active North Carolina RN license or Compact RN license; pending licensure may be considered for submission
  • Experience caring for patients before and after cardiac catheterization, cardiac procedures, and vascular interventions
  • Competence with cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, cardiac drips, pacemakers, TR bands, and post-MI care
  • Ability to manage a high-acuity, high-turnover unit and care for up to six patients
  • Experience with Epic documentation is preferred
  • Willingness to care for patients requiring appropriate oxygen therapy, including stable high-flow oxygen or chronic non-invasive airway support

Travel Telemetry RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult telemetry patients with cardiac and neurologic diagnoses.
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, recognize clinical changes, and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Care for patients with unstable angina, low-risk chest pain, heart failure, dysrhythmias, CVA, and TIA.
  • Provide pre- and post-procedure care for pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, cardiac catheterization, cardiac interventions, and peripheral vascular procedures.
  • Manage and titrate applicable cardiac infusions, including Cardizem, dopamine, and amiodarone, according to unit protocols.
  • Perform IV and central-line care, blood product administration, oxygen administration, isolation precautions, and other acute-care nursing interventions.
  • Monitor patients with telemetry and pulse oximetry while coordinating care with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, and rapid response teams.
  • Support admissions, discharges, transfers, and frequent patient turnover in a collaborative team environment.
  • Accurately document care in Epic and communicate clinical information using SBAR.
  • Float within or near the assigned unit as needed and participate in weekend, holiday, and call coverage.
