Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Med/Surg Tele for a 36-bed Ortho-Urology unit requiring a NC or compact RN license and at least 1 year of recent experience.

Details

  • 13-week contract assignment, 36 hours/week
  • 12hr Day Shift schedule, 0700-1930
  • Teaching hospital with 351 licensed beds, no trauma designation
  • General Med/Surg unit caring for CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, infections, wounds, CIWA, and CBI patients
  • Floor-level post-operative patients including bariatric, hip, trauma surgical, and bucks traction cases
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:6, CNA ratio of 1:9-12
  • Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating required to sister units 7N and 7S, both med-surg with same ratio/expectations
  • Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
  • Telemetry monitoring/tech support available
  • Uses Encompass/EPIC EMR, Baxter IV pumps (transitioning to Alaris), Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips MX-40 monitors

Requirements

  • Active RN license, NC or Compact, required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent core experience in Med/Surg specialty required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Skills required include IV start/maintenance, foley start/maintenance, NG tube start/maintenance, chest tube care, wound care/dressing changes, wound vac/drain management, heparin drips, and CBI
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide general medical/surgical nursing care including IV therapy, wound care, and post-operative management
  • Participate in 2-day unit-specific orientation in addition to facility-level New Employee Orientation (NEO)
  • Clinical interview required prior to placement
  • Scrub color requirement: Royal Blue
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Strong unit culture with experienced leadership and team work ethic
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before returning as a traveler
