Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on a 42-bed respiratory unit, requiring an active AL or Compact RN license and at least 2 years of nursing experience.

Details

  • Day shift position, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • 13-week travel contract
  • Works on a 42-bed Medical Respiratory Unit (7 North) specializing in acute and chronic respiratory conditions
  • Primary patient population includes those with pneumonia, shortness of breath, COPD, and other lung diseases; also cares for patients with GI issues, diabetes, and occasional stroke and surgical cases
  • Standard nursing ratio is 1:6; an 8-bed respiratory step-down sub-unit within the floor carries a 1:4 ratio
  • Patients benefit from daily interdisciplinary team rounds
  • 36 or 48 hours per week available
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required
  • Floating to other units and hospitals required
  • EMR: Meditech (experience preferred but not required)
  • Timekeeping system: Centricity

Requirements

  • Active AL state or Compact RN license required — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
  • No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed
  • Current NURSYS verification required
  • BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted)
  • Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required; candidates with 18 months may be considered if working at the highest level of their license
  • At least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or respiratory nursing required
  • Current driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration
