Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a neurological specialty unit requiring NIHSS certification and a Michigan RN license.

Details

  • Work on a 40-bed medical surgical unit specializing in neurological disorders such as stroke, epilepsy, MS, and other inflammatory brain and spinal cord conditions
  • Care for a large post-operative spinal surgery population including laminectomy and spinal fusion patients
  • Unit includes six step-down/telemetry beds, six bariatric beds, and a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit admitting seizure patients age 5 and up
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
  • Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
  • Every other weekend required
  • May float to other Med/Surg units, ICU units, and ED waiting rooms
  • Uses EPIC and Pyxis

Requirements

  • Active Michigan RN license required
  • BLS (AHA) certification required
  • NIHSS certification required, or willingness to complete certification prior to start
  • 1-2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred
  • Supervisor-level reference required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct care to neurological, post-surgical, telemetry step-down, and bariatric patients
  • No holiday RTO requests permitted; dates may be discussed with manager based on unit accommodation
  • Travelers are first to float within the facility
  • Proof of flu vaccination required, with exemption requests submitted within 48 hours of signing if applicable
  • Previous Bronson internal travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
  • Locals within 50 miles accepted at a local rate differential
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this position
