Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00–19:30) | Onsite | Up to 26 weeks | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week based on preference

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a medical surgical unit specializing in neurological disorders including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and inflammatory disorders of the brain and spinal cord
• Care for post-operative patients following neuro-surgery, ortho-surgery, laminectomy, and spinal fusion procedures
• Monitor and manage patients in step-down/telemetry and bariatric beds within a diverse patient population
• Support care in a Neuro Monitoring Unit for seizure patients, including pediatric patients ages 5 and up
• Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
• May be asked to float to other Med/Surg units, ICU units, and ED waiting rooms as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid Michigan RN license required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• NIHSS certification required, or willingness to complete prior to start date
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required
• Availability to work every other weekend
• No holiday time-off requests; holiday scheduling may be discussed with the manager based on unit needs
• Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted; a rate differential may apply

Preferred Experience / Skills

• 1–2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience preferred
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records system
• Experience with Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Background in neurological or neurosurgical patient populations
