Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night shift contract requiring 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and KY or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7
• Uses Meditech EMR (preferred experience)
• Night shift rotating schedule: one week of 3x12s, next week of 4x12s (19:00-7:30)
• 84 hours worked per two-week pay period
• Floating required within scope of practice
• Every other weekend required
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated

Requirements

• Active KY or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of current Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• 3-6 months of Level IV trauma or above experience preferred
• Skills include IV therapy, central/PICC line management, blood product administration, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and cardiac monitoring/dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience with wound care, IV insulin protocols, and post-cardiac catheterization care preferred
• Two professional references required (one Charge or higher, one Supervisor), completed within the last year
• Copy of certifications required for consideration
• Driver's license copy required, with address matching permanent address
• Flu vaccine required; declinations not accepted, though medical and religious exemptions may be approved case-by-case

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg Telemetry patients, including cardiac, neurological, renal, orthopedic, and GI cases
• Manage patients with conditions such as CVA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, renal failure, and post-neurosurgical care
• Administer medications including heparin protocols, PCA, and epidural analgesia, and manage cardiac drips without titration
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Up to 7 days of RTO considered if submitted upfront; no changes accepted once approved
• Must work either a major or minor holiday shift for every holiday period
• Traveler pairs are limited and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
• Travelers must take a minimum 6-month break after completing one year with the system before returning
• This is a single 13-week contract; extensions will not be approved
