Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position at a Critical Access Hospital, requiring 2+ years of Med/Surg Tele experience and recent Epic experience.

Details

  • Work on a Medical Surgical Telemetry unit that also cares for some progressive care level patients
  • Patient population includes medical, telemetry, orthopedic, urology, ENT, GYN, and general surgical patients ranging from young adults to end of life
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5 based on acuity
  • Supported by LNA/CNA/PCT staff (2-3 or more per shift) and unit clerks/secretaries as needed
  • Uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
  • Uses Alaris IV pumps and Philips cardiac monitoring equipment
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
  • Minimum every other weekend required, with schedule adjustments based on unit needs
  • Floating is voluntary only and not required
  • Charge nurse responsibilities not required
  • No block scheduling permitted
  • Bi-weekly orientation sessions held on Mondays

Requirements

  • Active RN license, either Vermont or compact, required
  • AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification required prior to start date
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical Telemetry experience required
  • Progressive care experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years required
  • Reliable personal or rental vehicle required due to lack of public transportation in the area

Additional Information

  • Facility is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital with 17 patient rooms, including private rooms for end-of-life and isolation care
  • Unit serves as the facility's Code 99, Rapid Response, Fall, and IV team
  • 24/7 hospitalist coverage dedicated to the unit, with respiratory therapy support available for ventilator and nebulizer management
  • House supervisors provide oversight when unit managers are not present, with on-call manager support available as needed
  • 24/7 lab and x-ray support available
  • Team culture emphasizes teamwork, professional growth, and support for critical thinking staff
  • Must work 2 of the following 4 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires during November through April due to regional weather conditions
