Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

This position seeks a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to work on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit. The role requires commitment to high-quality patient care and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Details

  • Shift Type: Nights
  • Shift Hours: 1845-0715
  • Shift Length: 12 hours
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Information

  • Unit Type: Medical Surgical / Telemetry
  • Number of Beds: 90 (double occupancy)
  • Nurse-Patient Ratios: Days 1:5-6 | Nights 1:6

Patient Care & Responsibilities

The RN will care for a variety of medical patients, typically including those with pneumonia, COPD, acute kidney injury, and postoperative cases such as laparoscopic cholecystectomies and appendectomies. Duties include:

  • Monitoring and managing patient vital signs and health status.
  • Titrating medications such as Heparin and Lasix (non-titrated).
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Utilizing Epic EMR for documentation and patient management.
  • Signing off on telemetry strips generated by dedicated telemetry technicians.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including 1 year in a specialty setting.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
  • Experience in a Trauma Level I/II facility is required.

Additional Information

  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Typically 2 out of 3 holidays
  • Floating as needed to MedSurg, stable low acuity in ICU, and related areas
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  • Orientation: One NEO, one clinical education session, and one day on the floor
