Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2+ years of experience, CA RN license, and NIHSS certification.

Details

• Acute care setting on a 38-bed Med/Surg unit with 8 telemetry beds
• General Med/Surg patient population, including post-op general and orthopedic patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Charting performed in Cerner
• 12-hour night shifts beginning at 0645 with bedside report
• Every other weekend required
• Required to float to telemetry
• First to float among staff
• Charge nurse available, generally break relief only
• Nurse aides available based on census and staffing
• Hospitalist/Intensivist, RT, and Pharmacy coverage available 24/7
• Fast-paced unit with a two-hallway layout

Requirements

• Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must be competent reading and interpreting EKG strips
• Must be competent administering Amiodarone and Diltiazem drips
• Two supervisory references required, one within 12 months and one within 3 years of employment
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to general Med/Surg and telemetry patients, including post-op general and orthopedic cases
• Complete a facility-wide orientation held in Sacramento rather than at the local hospital
• 1-2 days of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Must pass a basic Dysrhythmia exam prior to confirmed offer, with up to two attempts allowed
• Navy scrub color required, with undershirts in navy, white, or black; navy scrub jackets optional
• Expected to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), with holiday time off considered but not guaranteed
• Self-scheduling available with schedules released 4 weeks in advance
• Extra shifts and shift trades may be available through self-scheduling platform
