Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) with a focus on general MedSurg care in a community hospital setting. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience and be open to serving as a first-time traveler.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients, including post-surgical recovery, strokes, oncology (non-chemo), CHF, COPD, respiratory issues, GI issues, and orthopedic patients.
• Administer care for complex conditions, potentially including total care assignments and functioning as a CNA when needed.
• Perform nursing duties such as managing chest tubes, tracheostomies, PICC/midlines/central lines, urinary catheters, NG tubes, dressing changes, wound vacuums, and ostomy care.
• Utilize telemetry methods effectively and pass a tele exam during compliance processes.
• Provide care for pediatric patients if qualified and experienced.

Qualifications

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required; PALS certification is preferred.
• Experience in necessary MedSurg skills, including tele monitoring.
• Pediatric and psychiatric experience is preferred, but not required.

Patient Population

The position primarily involves caring for adult patients, with opportunities to utilize pediatric experience if available. The typical patient types include:

• Post-surgical patients
• Stroke patients
• Oncology patients (excluding chemotherapy)
• Patients with congestive heart failure (CHF)
• Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other respiratory issues
• Gastrointestinal issues
• Orthopedic patients (e.g., total joint replacements)
• COVID-19 patients

Work Environment

This position consists of floating among various units including 2EW, 2NW, 3EW, 3NW, and the 5th floor, as well as the ER for MedSurg holds.

Schedule

• Weekend rotation: every other weekend
• Shift times: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
