Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available, either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks
• Weekend rotation of 5 to 6 weekend shifts out of every 12 shifts
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday expectations require working one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after, December 24 or 25, and December 31 or January 1)
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4-6
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Required certifications: RN License (associate's degree minimum), BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) test completed during onboarding
• Scrub color: Navy for RNs
• Care for patients with chest pain, syncope, vomiting, abdominal pain, cellulitis, COPD exacerbation, heart failure, dehydration, hypertension, diabetes, simple trauma, MVC, and falls
• Unit beds patients from the ER waiting on inpatient admission; high patient turnover expected
• Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, and drips titrated to heart rate
• Strong clinical assessment, time management, IV insertion and maintenance, cardiac monitoring and interpretation, care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education skills required
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Monitors: Philips
• Additional unit equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, cardiac telemetry monitoring, portable vital signs monitors (Dynamap), bladder scanners, portable oxygen system, glucommander, PCA pain management, and suction machine
• Floating to all adult med surg/telemetry units within the facility may be required
• Orientation consists of 1 day of general orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
• Free parking available around campus

This facility is a 637-licensed-bed teaching hospital holding a Level 1 Trauma Designation and housing specialized centers including a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center.
