Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Patient ratios: RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, CNA up to 1:14
• Care for patients with acute or chronic disease, co-morbidities common to med-surg population including diabetes, hypertension, infections, and electrolyte imbalances, cardiac patients (post-cath, CHF, a-fib), and post-surgical patients (general, ortho, trauma)
• Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts and IV maintenance, glucommander, assessment and time management, care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education
• Telemetry skills required: monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms, post-cath care, TR bands, and post-cath groin site management (no sheath pulls)
• Required drip management: insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, and nicardipine; may titrate drips for HR but not for BP
• 6 months of EPIC experience required
• EMR: EPIC; IV Pump: Alaris; Med Dispensing: Pyxis; Monitors: Phillips; additional equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors and Nova Glucose Stat Strips
• Float pool capacity required - will float to all Med/Tele units in house as needed, and may also float to ED for holds
• Support available includes CNA assistance, unit secretary (7:00 AM - 11:00 PM on unit), charge nurse, PICC team, discharge nurses, resource team, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, intensivist 24/7, and central telemetry monitoring
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred and EKG competency exam required during onboarding; Med/Surg certification a plus
• Scrub color: Navy for RN, Ceil Blue for LPN
