Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available, either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule cycles every 6 weeks with 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday expectations include working one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:4-6 for RN
• Required certifications: BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) - traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam
• ACLS preferred
• National certification in medical-surgical or nephrology nursing preferred
• Scrub color: Navy for RN
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Pyxis
• Monitors: Philips

• Care for patients with orthopedic and trauma conditions, acute or chronic diseases, post-op surgeries, and common co-morbidities including diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances
• Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, Glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and telemetry interpretation
• Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills required for Level 1 Trauma environment
• Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams, discharge planning, and patient education required
• May float to all adult med-surg and telemetry units within the facility
• Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretary (7:00 AM to 11:00 PM), charge nurse, PICC team, discharge nurses, resource team, respiratory therapy 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, intensivist 24/7, and central telemetry monitoring

Facility:

This facility is a 637-licensed-bed Level 1 Trauma Center and teaching hospital equipped with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The 35-bed Med Surg/Tele unit operates with a comprehensive support structure including CNAs, unit secretaries, a PICC team, resource nurses, and 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage. The facility utilizes modern technology and equipment to support high-quality patient care in a busy but team-oriented environment.
