Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift assignment requiring NIHSS certification and at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience.

Details

• Hospital setting located in Charlotte, NC with 207 licensed beds
• Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation, no trauma designation, not a teaching hospital
• Home unit assigned on first day of orientation, may include ADTU, Ortho Surgical, Medical Telemetry, Surgical Telemetry, Cardiac Medical Telemetry, or Medical/Detox units
• Patient types vary by unit and include CHF, COPD, stroke, chest pain workup, cardiac arrhythmias, ESRD, GI bleed, detox, and post-surgical patients
• Ortho Surgical unit requires additional ortho experience and spinal precaution skills
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6 with critical surge up to 1:7-8
• EMR: Epic; IV Pump: Alaris; Med dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Phillips
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No call requirements
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) within scope of practice
• Schedule cycle repeats every 6 weeks

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• General Med/Tele skillset required including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, PCA pumps, and medication gtt management (cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF)
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Previous permanent employees of AHSE facilities must be separated for at least 1 year before eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within assigned Med/Surg-Tele unit, supporting overflow and specialty patient populations
• Supported by CNA, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse (as staffing allows), respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract
• Navy scrub color required
• Free parking available on site
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel assignment
• First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
• Clinical interview conducted by the unit manager as final step in hiring process
