Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit with 34 beds and average census of 32 plus 3 surge rooms
• Patient population includes ESRD, CHF, pneumonia, sickle cell crisis, diabetes/DKA, wounds, and acute/chronic renal failure, primarily medical rather than surgical cases
• Unit will begin admitting Hematology/Oncology patients starting Spring 2026; chemo certification not required but comfort caring for these patients is necessary
• RN to patient ratio is 1:5 days and 1:6 nights, with critical surge ratios of 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week, standard 40 hours
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required within Region 2 (Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division including CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital) as needed within scope of practice
• EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, Rover communication, and Hoyer lifts used on the unit
• 24/7 support staff includes CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, dedicated pharmacist, case managers, Clinical Nurse Specialist, respiratory therapy, nurse educator, and hospitalist

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; ONS preferred but not required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
• Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone) preferred; manager approval needed if no experience
• General med/surg skillset required including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
