Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift assignment requiring stroke and cardiac telemetry experience.

Details

  • Hospital-based Med/Tele overflow unit supporting all inpatient units and ED holding
  • 12-bed unit with common diagnoses including CHF, COPD, chest pain workup, stroke symptoms, and respiratory issues
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with critical surge ratios up to 1:7-8
  • CNA to patient ratio of 1:6-12
  • 12-hour night shift schedule, 7pm start, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required to other units and facilities within assigned region, based on scope of practice
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
  • No dedicated telemetry monitoring tech support

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
  • General Med/Tele skillset required, including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, foley insertion, and PCA pump management
  • Experience with medication gtt management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Deliver Med/Surg-Tele nursing care within a fast-paced overflow unit supporting multiple inpatient areas and ED holding
  • Home unit assigned on first day of orientation
  • Support team includes CNAs, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract extension required if contracted hours are not met
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking provided
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the position
  • Local candidates not accepted
  • Previous permanent employees of AHSE facilities must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
  • First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
