Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a NC or compact RN license and at least 18 months of Med/Tele nursing experience.

Details

  • Work on a 32-bed Surgical Med/Surg Tele unit with an average census of 28
  • Level 3 Trauma teaching-free hospital with Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
  • Patient population includes total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder surgeries, appendectomies, amputations, hip fractures, SBO, and medical overflow cases
  • RN patient ratios are 1:4-6 on days and 1:5-6 on nights, with surge ratios up to 1:7-8
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Possibility of low census call-back, up to 3am for night shifts and 3pm for day shifts
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
  • Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
  • Support staff includes CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy team, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
  • Telemetry monitoring and tech support available

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
  • Core skills include cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drip management (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum of one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for post-surgical and medical overflow patients on a busy Med/Surg Tele unit
  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus two days of departmental orientation
  • Holiday coverage expected for 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any unmet contracted hours added to the end of the assignment
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking provided onsite
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates who previously held a permanent position at any Advocate Health Southeast facility must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible
