Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Med/Surg Tele for a 16-bed acute care unit at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center, requiring 2 years of Med/Surg experience and telemetry strip reading skills.

Details

  • Acute Care for Elderly unit with 16 beds, typically at full census
  • 12-hour day shift schedule (7A-7P), 36 hours per week
  • Patient population includes geriatric patients (65+) with diagnoses including DM, GI, respiratory, renal conditions, and wound care
  • Focus on mobilization with functional, community-dwelling patients
  • Bed turnover rate of 3-4 patients
  • RN to patient ratio of 5-6:1, CNA ratio of 8:1
  • Centralized telemetry monitoring with strips signed each shift
  • EMR: Epic
  • IV Pump: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Omnicell
  • Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating required to 8 Reynolds, 8 North, 9 North A/B, 9 Ardmore, 10 Ardmore, 8 North-B, and 8 Ardmore

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
  • Minimum 12 months of core work experience in unit specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Strong IV skills and experience reading telemetry strips required
  • Strong time management skills required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care in a moderate to high stress environment
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within one year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

  • Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
