Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
• First-time travelers will be accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:4-6 for RN and LPN with 2-3 CNAs per shift
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certification required - traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance
• ACLS preferred but not required
• Medical-Surgical national certification preferred but not required
• Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, and drips to titrate heart rate
• Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills required for Level 1 Trauma Hospital setting
• IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, and post-op monitoring required
• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation skills required
• Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams and discharge planning experience needed
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Monitors: Phillips

• May be required to float to all adult med surg/telemetry units in-house
• Scrub color: Navy blue for RN

Facility:

This facility is a 637-licensed-bed teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma Designation, housing a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The Med Surg/Tele unit has 35 beds and commonly treats patients with acute or chronic diseases, post-op surgeries, and co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances. The facility provides robust departmental support including CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, a PICC team, discharge nurses, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, intensivists, and a Central Telemetry Unit, all available around the clock.
