Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center, requiring a NC or compact RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Tele experience.

  • 10-bed unit with an average daily census of 8 patients
  • RN toratio is 1:5 and CNA toratio is 1:10
  • Patient population includes DM, respiratory and GI illnesses, neuro/trauma spinal precautions, pre-CT surgery (CABG) and cardiac patients, and and clean cath lab patients managing TR bands
  • Manages drips including Cardizem, Nitro, and Amio
  • will train if needed
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
  • Telemetry monitors are located at bedside; no in-room monitors, RN reads and interprets cardiac strips
  • 12-hour day shifts (0700-1900), 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating required to Rehab, 4 Ardmore, 10 Reynolds, 9 Reynolds, 5 Ardmore, Burn-10 North, and 4A MedSurg Overflow

  • Minimum 1 year of recent/Telemnursing experience within Travel experience preferred, but hospid also travel experience preferred
  • Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, PCA pump management, surgical drain care, wound care, and TR band management
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position there

  • Provide direct patient care for a variety of med/surg and cardiac/CT surgery patients, including reading and interpreting cardiac telemetry strips
  • Perform wound care, manage surgical drains, PCA pumps, external fixators, chest tubes, and trachs
  • Supported by CNAs for vitals and blood glucose checks, hourly rounding, and ADLs, along with a receptionist/HUC and charge nurse
  • RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage available 24/7
  • RNs start their own IVs as there is no dedicated IV/VAT team
  • Peripheral blood draws performed by phlebotomy
  • Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • Free parking available

  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
