Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Med/Surg Tele for a 12hr day shift role in an Emergency Observation Unit requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

  • Work in a 10-bed Emergency Observation Unit with an average daily census of 8 patients
  • Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:5, CNA ratio of 1:10
  • 12-hour day shift schedule, 0700-1900 (also referenced as 0650-1910)
  • 36 standard hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
  • Required to float within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds) as needed based on staffing demands

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
  • Skills required include stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management), and PCA pump management
  • Experience with medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Facility is a Trauma Level III teaching hospital with Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence designations
  • Support team includes a Supervisor, Charge RN, Resource RN for admissions/discharges, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Hospitalist coverage (not unit-dedicated), and a combined Phlebotomy/IV team
  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free employee parking deck available
  • Positive team culture including unit book club and social activities
  • First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
