Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg/Tele Float position requiring WA or compact RN license and ACLS/BLS certification.

Details

  • Acute care setting within a 32-bed Med/Surg/Telemetry float unit
  • Patient ratios of 5:1, with potential for 6:1 during inpatient boarding
  • Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, ETOH withdrawal, kidney issues, dementia, and CVA
  • Epic EMR used for charting
  • 12-hour day shifts (0700-1930)
  • Weekend requirement every other weekend
  • Floating required between Med Surg, PCU, ED boarding, and temporary bed location units
  • Charge nurse and nurse aide support available (typically 4-5 aides per shift)
  • 24/7 in-house hospitalist, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy support
  • Cross-shift IV SWAT team available for assistance
  • Telemetry monitors used, with nurses responsible for strip review
  • Administers drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Insulin (non-DKA protocol), and comfort narcotics
  • Close observation provided through camera monitoring
  • No ventilator management required

Requirements

  • Active WA RN license or Compact license required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • NIHSS certification preferred but not required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
