- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including Saturday and Sunday nights
- Holiday Requirement: Participate in the holiday rotation
- Patient Ratios: Generally 1:5–6, depending on acuity
- Float Expectations: Assignment across multiple medical-surgical and telemetry units based on patient-care needs
- Charting System: Epic
- Orientation: 1–2 shifts with a preceptor
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
Travel RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
- At least 1 year of acute-care nursing experience; medical-surgical or telemetry nursing experience strongly preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to successfully complete a cardiac rhythm examination
- Proficiency in recognizing and interpreting cardiac rhythms and telemetry strips
- Ability to care for adult patients with diagnoses such as CHF, pneumonia, COPD, chronic renal disease, cardiac catheterization recovery needs, orthopedic conditions, and oncology-related conditions
- Comfort working in a medical-surgical and telemetry float-pool environment and adapting to varying unit assignments
- Availability for required night shifts, alternate weekends, and holiday rotation
- Strong communication, organization, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills
Telemetry and Med-Surgical RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to adult acute-care patients
- Float among medical-surgical and telemetry units while caring for patients within your scope of practice
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, identify changes in patient condition, and promptly escalate concerns
- Complete comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, care planning, and timely documentation in Epic
- Care for patients with cardiac, pulmonary, renal, orthopedic, infectious, and oncology-related conditions
- Collaborate with providers, charge nurses, nursing assistants, monitor technicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
- Manage patient care according to established ratios, acuity, hospital policies, and clinical standards
- Provide clear handoff communication and contribute to a positive, adaptable unit environment
- Follow telemetry, patient safety, infection-prevention, and acute-care protocols throughout the assignment
