Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg/Tele Float Pool RN with Level 1 trauma center experience for a 13-week night shift assignment.

Details

• Acute care Level 1 trauma hospital setting
• Float pool supporting multiple med-surg, telemetry, neuro, and observation units
• Units include Tower 5-8 (med/surg, oncology, lung transplant, cardiac surgery, trauma, organ transplant), Neuro units 5N/6N/7NNB (stroke, neuro, epilepsy, ENT, migraines), and 6HLT/7HLT (cardiac procedures and observation)
• May also float to Neuro Rehab, Surgical Landing Zone, ED Holds, Zone 4, and to Westgate and Laveen campuses
• Typical patient ratios range from 1:3-6, with 1:4-5 ratios at Westgate and Laveen
• 12-hour night shifts, 7PM-7:30AM
• 4 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) required per 4-week period
• Holiday coverage required based on unit needs
• Schedule provided 4 weeks in advance and may be adjusted with 2 weeks notice based on hospital needs
• No on-call requirement, though staff may be placed on standby with a 30-minute response time during low census
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 2 shifts of orientation (one on unit, one in ED Holds), with a third as needed

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• NIHSS certification preferred but not required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg/Tele experience required
• Level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital experience required
• Must pass a Basic Dysrhythmia exam with an 80% score within 2 attempts prior to contract confirmation
• Must pass a Day 1 SIMs Lab skills assessment for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, including maintaining sterile field
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across multiple med-surg, telemetry, neuro, and observation units as part of a float pool team
• Must be willing to float to any assigned unit without refusal
• Complete bedside reporting and a two-person skin assessment within the first 4 hours of each shift
• Report to charge RN station on each unit to receive assignment and change department code with each clocking
• Expected to be on the unit by shift start time to participate in shift huddle
• Staffing office is off-site; assignment notifications are sent via GroupMe text or phone call 30-60 minutes in advance
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility per state radius requirement, verified by driver's license
• No local rate offered for this position
• Candidates who failed the Dysrhythmia or Sterile Technique exams within the past 6 months in the Arizona or Sacramento region are ineligible
• Candidates directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
