Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Medicine Step Down/Telemetry position requiring at least 1 year of stepdown/PCU experience and a compact or Oklahoma RN license.

Details

• Work in the Medicine Step Down unit of a hospital setting
• Care for a variety of medical patients with conditions ranging from simple to complex
• Night shift schedule
• 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours per week

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required
• Solid and consistent experience in a stepdown/PCU unit required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Willingness to precept new nurses preferred

Additional Information

• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients and deliver competent nursing care
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and treatments, noting changes in physician orders
• Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
• Obtain and monitor physiological data, observing and intervening on physiological changes
• Administer medications and initiate, regulate, and monitor IV infusions and blood products
• Communicate care plans with patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge
• Inform patients and families of hospital procedures and make appropriate referrals for care needs
• Delegate tasks to support staff as needed
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
• Compliance documentation must be completed promptly, as start dates cannot be pushed once booked
• Returning workers may extend only once for a total of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
