Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a MedSurg/Stepdown position requiring SC or compact RN licensure and 2 years of MedSurg experience.

Details

  • Works in a combined MedSurg and Stepdown/PCU unit setting
  • Frequently floats to PCU/Stepdown and other MS/Tele units
  • Patient ratios are approximately 1:4-5 on Stepdown and 1:5-6 on MedSurg
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
  • Weekday shifts with every other weekend required
  • Floating and holiday coverage required as needed
  • Uses Meditech EMR system

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or compact license required
  • Minimum 2 years of MedSurg experience required
  • Stepdown/PCU experience required in addition to MedSurg experience
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
  • Must be comfortable working in both MedSurg and Stepdown/PCU settings
  • Candidates must not have any license or background check issues

Additional Information

  • Care for adult MedSurg and Stepdown/PCU patients, including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and renal cases
  • Comfortable managing dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and cardiac drip titration
  • Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE preferred
  • Scrubs not provided; royal blue/white scrub color required
  • Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel assignment
  • Previous staff must have been gone at least 1 year and departed in good standing to be eligible for rehire
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Pediatric experience not required; travelers without pediatric experience will not be assigned pediatric patients
  • Minimal to no RTO accepted, especially during the first weeks of the assignment
