Travel Nursing Job Details

- Dress Code: Caribbean blue scrubs
Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- At least 1.5 years of recent registered nursing experience in a Level I, Level II, or tertiary-care setting
- At least 1 year of Medical-Surgical RN experience in a large hospital setting of approximately 450 beds or more
- Current Registered Nurse license in Indiana or a valid compact RN license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Demonstrated ability to care for diverse adult medical-surgical patients
- Ability to float to other medical units and adapt quickly to changing patient-care needs
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and electronic documentation skills
Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive Medical-Surgical nursing care across medical units based on staffing needs
- Assess patients, develop and implement care plans, monitor progress, and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Care for patients with conditions including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal disorders, infections, sepsis, stroke, dementia, traumatic brain injuries, and behavioral health concerns
- Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopies, minor surgeries, biopsies, and amputations
- Manage IV therapy, IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding pumps and tubes, chest tubes, telemetry monitoring, heparin and insulin drips, and blood glucose checks
- Use Epic, Pyxis, Accu-Chek, Hospira IV pumps, sequential compression devices, and other unit equipment safely and effectively
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention, comfort, and continuity of care throughout each shift
