Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor position in Iowa requiring an active Iowa or compact/multistate nursing license. The role provides care for patients requiring neurological, orthopedic, neurosurgical, trauma, and medical-surgical services in a hospital or medical center setting. The position requires night-shift coverage and experience with complex clinical equipment and therapies.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: At least 24 months of current Stepdown, Progressive Care, or Medical-Surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting; neurological or neurology care experience; orthopedic care experience; experience administering heparin and patient-controlled analgesia; experience using lift equipment, chest tubes, and Airvo; experience with EPIC electronic medical records; at least one completed travel contract within the previous 12 months; active Iowa or compact/multistate nursing license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma care experience; experience administering 3% sodium; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Schedule: Night shift; 12-hour shifts; minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Assignment Dates: 11/23/2026 through 02/22/2027.
- Additional Information: Patient populations include post-thrombolysis, orthopedic, crani-neurosurgical, laminectomy, and polytrauma cases. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:56. Clinical responsibilities may include management of heparin infusions, patient-controlled analgesia, 3% sodium, telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo equipment. Weekend coverage is typically every other or every third weekend, including holiday rotation. The role may require coverage across other medical-surgical units and campuses.
