Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Level II trauma hospital in Des Moines, IA, requiring 24 months of Med/Surg experience and Level II trauma experience.

Details

• Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts, 48 hrs/week (36 hrs available if preferred)
• Med/Surg unit caring for Pulmonary/Med Surg patient population
• Unit bed size of 23 with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-6
• May care for COVID+ patients
• Uses Heparin drips
• Required to work every other or every third weekend depending on staffing/census
• No on-call requirements
• Required to float across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of current Med/Surg experience required
• Pulmonary patient care experience required
• Level II trauma experience required
• Level I trauma experience and experience caring for pulmonary/ventilated patients on bi-pap with trach care highly preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit at a Level I Trauma Center teaching hospital
• First-time travelers will be considered if the 2+ year Med/Surg experience requirement is met
• Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) unless the unit is closed
• Limited time off requests permitted during the winter holiday period
• Local candidates not accepted within 50 miles of the facility
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) may not work travel assignments at other UPH markets within 12 months of separation
