Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift Med Surg RN with EPIC experience and at least 1 year of recent inpatient Med Surg experience.

Details

• Inpatient Med Surg unit at a hospital, assigned to the area of highest need
• Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend work required as needed, generally every other weekend
• No call requirements
• Floating required as needed to similar or lower acuity units
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license eligible for or currently licensed in Missouri (Compact accepted)
• Current BLS certification from AHA required
• ACLS certification from AHA preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med Surg experience required
• Must provide valid U.S. Social Security Number (Canadian SINs not accepted)
• No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients post trauma, surgical intervention, and medical comorbidities
• Coordinates patient care with ancillary departments to optimize care and comfort
• Maintains professional accountability and evaluates effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers
• Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, frequent bending, lifting, and turning patients, and pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs
• High risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available for the full orientation week
• Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
• Black scrub color required
• Up to 5 days of RTO allowed but must be made up during the assignment
• Holiday RTO limited to one request per assignment
• Local candidates accepted, with local candidates subject to a distance-based bill rate adjustment
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year break or reassignment outside the radius
