Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan
• At least 2 years of acute-care nursing experience, preferably in a medical/surgical unit
• Current ACLS certification
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred or required based on assignment qualifications
• Strong critical-thinking, clinical assessment, and clinical judgment skills
• Ability to make decisive clinical decisions and work effectively with minimal supervision
• Ability to remain composed and take appropriate action in a fast-paced, stressful healthcare environment
• Comfort caring for adult and geriatric patients with varied medical/surgical needs

Med/Surg Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric medical/surgical patients during overnight shifts
• Assess patient conditions, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patients for changes in condition
• Use telemetry monitors, IV pumps, enteral feeding pumps, bladder scanners, and vital-sign monitoring equipment as indicated
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing colleagues, and the interdisciplinary care team to support positive patient outcomes
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Cerner
• Prioritize care, respond to clinical changes, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Support safe transitions of care through effective communication during handoffs
• Adapt to occasional assignments on comparable units while maintaining high standards of patient care
